Trailer Mounted Actuator and Breakaway system for Hydraulic Brakes
Developed for Boat Trailers, Horse Trailers, RVs, Car Haulers or any other 1, 2 or 3 axle trailer with hydraulic brakes. Eliminates the feel of being pushed by the trailer and the brake drag common with override brake systems on long downhill grades.
No Installation required in tow vehicle
Portable controller plugs into tow vehicle’s cigarette lighter, requiring no special wiring to control the trailer mounted actuator. Ideal for shared trailers or rental fleets, where there is a need to change tow vehicles, just move the portable contoller. The controller sends signals through the existing vehicle wiring to the actuator via the cigarette lighter, providing adjustments to match load and road conditions.
On-board micropressor and accelerometer
Patented system “senses” the amount of braking effort required and provides for a smooth, safe stop.
Visual / audio warning alerts driver to brake or controller problems.
The in-cab controller provides a visual and audio warning whenever a problem is detected with the trailer brake electrical system or with the Hydrastar XL actuator. Status codes displayed by the unit make system diagnosis and repair a simple process.
Powered by a trailer mounted battery with in built battery charger.
A 17amp trailer mounted battery is required for operation. Power is drawn from the tow vehicle’s running light circuit and a built-in 3 amp battery charger automatically charges the trailer battery.
Works in reverse
Unlike override brake systems, the Hydrastar XL unit works in reverse.
Breakaway system
Trailer lights automatically illuminated whenever the brakes are applied, the manual stop button is pressed or a breakaway condition occurs.
